We helped the Financial Reporting Council develop the presentation of its 2018 Annual Report to stakeholders. Our design and structuring suggestions reflected a deliberate shift toward clarity, accessibility, and stakeholder-focused communication.

We started with the FRC’s Mission statement to bring focus to the Report and brought the Highlights of the Year forward to give these important metrics more prominence. We came up with infographics, icons, and summary panels to highlight priorities, performance metrics, and regulatory outcomes, including the creation of a Regulatory Model graphic (designed to mirror a listed company’s Business Model) to underscore how the FRC promotes transparency and integrity in business.
A restrained colour palette - anchored in the FRC’s corporate colours, blue and grey – was used to differentiate key sections without overwhelming the reader, while consistent typography and clear heading hierarchies guided users through the often-complex material.
Visually, the report balances formality with a more modern, transparent tone that aligns with the FRC’s emphasis on accountability and reform during a period of heightened scrutiny. Overall, the design supported the FRC’s objective of presenting complex oversight activities in a structured, credible, and user-friendly way.
